Ode To White Hairs

I won't deny but the reason I haven't been updating this space is because I have been working too much. I think this is the price to pay for going for a very long holiday. After this, I will think really hard again next time should I wish to go for a holiday. Since I came back from US, I am still in the midst of clearing backlogs from the previous month. Not to mention, the current jobs that I need to tackle as well. They just keep on piling up.

One of the resolutions that I had when I was in NY for the New Year was that I will try to put more efforts to proper Time Management. To tell you the truth, with just barely 25 days for 2006, I am slowly failing in this aspect. Sigh!

Few days ago, as I was combing my hair in front of the mirror, I was distracted because something in my head glistened. It was very quick and hence, I did not pay much attention to it. But on the follwoing day, same time, same location, it happened again. I then decided to examine what was that. Lo and behold, it was a white hair! I began to search for more and found two more. Yes I now have three white hairs.

The three white hairs freaked me out! Freaked me that it never left my mind for few days.

It was sort of a wake-up call for me! "Ding! Dong! You're not getting any younger! Ding! Dong!" What might have caused this? Definitely, not on the genes. My dad at his very ripe age of 70, you can barely see grey hairs. Might I be working too hard? Maybe the stress level is way too much for me already? Or am I just plainly getting old? No doubt, day in day out I'm getting older but my age doesn't justify the showing of white hairs.

Resolution? I will try to lessen the time I am allotting for work and divert those times to more relaxing activities (e.g. hanging out with friends, reading more books, watching more movies and playing more).

I will start this next month. I still have 11 months to go. Wink!

Happy New Year Everybody!

Happy New Year to All Of You! I am so sorry that this comes a little too late but as the cliche goes.... Better Late Than Never!

The past month was such a blissful one for me. I always liked December and the last one was no exception at all. I think it even topped all the previous ones.

To start with, it is my birthday month, and for 2005 I had to celebrate it for 4 different times. First with friends, the second with colleagues, the third with family and the last one was with another set of friends. If I may add, "Tropang SG - or SGFlips" are planning for a post-birthday celebrations for all the Sagittarians and Capricorns of the group. Just for the record, I did not have a birthday wish, instead I thanked God for all my family and friends that He blessed me with. And you were one of them.

The second one, of course is the most obvious to all, it's Christmas month. Nothing beats the nostalgia and optimism that Christmas brings. I know this post is quite outdated, but please let me get away with this. Just this one.

And of course, the last - with the blast - was my US trip. The trip brought me a mixture of feelings and realizations. Yeah, not all good. But the not-so-good ones made the good ones better. I will dwell with the good ones though.

Being a self-confessed die-hard Levi's fan, could there be any better place to get my pair of rugged jeans than in San Francisco?

And could there be more peaceful place than the neighborhood of San Jose?

Could there be a better spot to try one's luck on the slots than on the Strip? Viva Las Vegas!

Is there a better place to watch a movie than in one of the 24-hr movie places in Hollywood?

Or is there a better place to catch a glimpse of America's political structures than in Washington DC?

And where the buzz is? New York it is! Witnessing for myself the famous Christmas Tree at Rockefeller Center; to crossing the Brooklyn Bridge; to watching a musical in Broadway, going to the top of the world... errr of the Empire State Building; encountering in person members of the NYPD; and of course experiencing and tasting my first snow and throwing my first snow ball. I saw Lady Liberty but my camera failed me on that, so no glimpse of her. Oh yeah, I almost forgot I joined the crowd in Times Square in singing "Auld Lang Syne". All right, not that close. I was in one of the bars in Fifth Avenue holding a can Heineken while waiting for the ball to drop.

But seriously, I am hoping someday to be part of the crowd that creates the hustle bustle in Wall St in Lower Manhattan. But standing on Ground Zero is such a different phenomenon. I wasn't able to help when a teardrop escaped my right eyelid. A little girl who was standing beside me noticed it and offered me her handkerchief. I asked her if I can have it and she agreed. I still have the hanky with me.

It's a shame that I only found time to write about my previous trip when I am already on my next destination. By the way, I am here in Sydney now.
