What's In A Child's Mind?
I have always marveled on how witty kids are nowadays. I don't know if it is wittiness or it is just plain and unadulterated honesty.
My friend's seven year old son have all these things to say about anything.
Me: Jolo, what do you want to become when you grow up?
Jolo: I don't know yet. I just wanna be rich.
Me: Jolo, have you read the new Harry Potter book?
Jolo: No. I never read any of the first books.
Me: Oh why not? Your kuya loves reading them.
Jolo: I know. That's why I am not reading them. Kuya will tell me the story
anyway.
One day, the whole family went to a squatter area to distribute their unwanted toys and clothes. It was Jolo's younger sister's birthday wish to make the poor kid's happy on her birthday. Jolo's siblings and their mom happily distributed the goods, but Jolo stayed in the car. Apparently he doesn't feel good seeing the situation of the poor kids.
Mommy: Jolo, why are you not joining us?Jolo: I don't want. I will just pray for them.
Contemplating on all of these, I am sure I would not have the capacity to answer in this manner when I was of Jolo's age.
